AKOCCA donates to Birim Central Municipal Assembly.
The Akyem Oda Concerned Citizens Association (AKOCCA) has donated ten metal dustbins to the Birim Central Municipal Assembly.
The dustbins which are worth GHȼ1,500.00; forms part of the Association’s social responsibility effort to make the Akyem Oda Township clean and help restore sanity to the environment.
Mr Kofi Asare Brako, the President of the Association, and popularly known in football circles as “Abbatey” at the presentation of the dustbins, said as concerned citizens it was prudent to help keep the environment clean hence their effort to provide the items.
Mr Dennis Agyiri, who on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive received the materials, commended the members of AKOCCA for their contribution towards the development of the municipality.
He said by the gesture of the Association and their good intentions, the Assembly has included them in its Statutory Planning Committee and the Public Relations Committee to assist in the development agenda of the area.
Earlier the AKOCCA members undertook a three-hour cleanup exercise to sweep, cleared garbage and choked gutters along the street from Oda Post Office to Nkwatanum.
They were supported by the Zoomlion Company Limited and some financial institutions in the municipality.
Mr Amos Mwuntiriw, the Municipal Environmental Officer, expressed gratitude to the participants of the activity for their effort to keep the environment clean.
